A historic Italian victory at the CSIO5* of Rome: Giacomo and the grey mare Milles clear the final fence at 2.00 metres to win the spectacular Sei Barriere Loro Piana at the 100th edition of Piazza di Siena.
On a beautiful sunny Saturday in front of a packed crowd, the Sei Barriere Loro Piana was an all-Italian affair. Giacomo Bassi and the Italian-bred grey Milles were the only pair to clear the last fence set at 2.00 metres in the third jump-off, beating Lorenzo De Luca on Baskin Smooth Diamond who had a fault. After sharing first place in 2025 with another horse, this victory confirms Giacomo as a true specialist of the puissance. "Piazza di Siena has always been one of my dreams. Doing well here, and winning the Coppa Roma, is still one of my goals. The difference is that today I know these targets are within reach," Giacomo said.
